Spring Car Care Relief Utah

Spring Car Care Relief for Your Vehicle

Winter can be tough on lots of things, including cars and trucks. Cold temperatures, snow and ice, road salt and pothole-causing freeze-thaw cycles put car batteries, tires, brakes and suspensions to the test.

Spring is the time to rid vehicles of winter's sins in time for summer travel.

Since 1970, Americans have more than doubled their vehicle miles traveled, according to federal statistics. In summer, many of those miles are logged on driving vacations far from home, the last place motorists want to risk a breakdown.

"Regular vehicle maintenance and inspections can help improve a vehicle's fuel efficiency, achieve peak performance and even help avoid major repairs down the road," says Peter Lord, executive director, GM Service Operations.

Vehicle owners can follow these tips to ensure their vehicles are ready to roll:

Batteries: They work harder when it's cold, and winter can compromise their cranking performance up to 60 percent. Test and replace old or weak batteries, especially those more than three years old. It can be cheaper than a tow and replacement on the road.

Tires / wheels: Cold weather can reduce tire pressure, so make sure all tires, including the spare, are properly inflated and balanced, and wheels are properly aligned. Inflate tires to their recommended pressure. Under-inflated tires can reduce fuel economy by up to 3.3 percent, cause premature tire failure and are a safety hazard. Tire failures and blowouts, often a result of under-inflation, contribute to 414 deaths and 10,295 injuries each year in the U.S., according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. In addition to tire pressure, check for tread wear and any obvious damage caused by potholes or sharp objects.

Belts and hoses: Inspect and replace worn or cracked belts, as well as hoses that are blistered, brittle or too soft. Belts and hoses older than five years, even if they look intact, might need to be replaced.

Brakes: A spring checkup can uncover any winter damage. Inspect the brake system, including lines, hoses, and parking brake. Inspect brake fluid for proper level. Low brake fluid can be an indication of excessive brake wear or fluid leak. Have the brake linings/pads inspected and measured.

Suspension: Deep potholes aren't friendly to shocks and struts. An inspection to determine wear or leaks can alleviate bigger issues down the road.

For extra security on the road, complete Auto Repair Service (C.A.R.S) encourages motorists to bring their vehicle in for a multi-point vehicle inspection this spring. The inspections help identify service items that can help vehicles run better and better, last longer, and retain their value.

Here are other items vehicle owners should have inspected in the spring:

😊Inspect the antifreeze/coolant level, making sure the coola
nt used meets the specifications listed in the vehicle owner's manual.

□ Check oil level regularly.

□ Check the transmission fluid for correct level. Check the owner's manual or ask us, for the right type of transmission fluid to use and the proper interval for service and replacement.

□ Inspect power steering fluid for proper levels. Low power steering fluid can cause damage to the power steering system and lead to premature power steering failure.

□  Inspect windshield wiper blades for wear and cracks, ideally each spring and fall.9C.A.R.S) recommends replacement of blades that look worn. Also inspect and replace the rear wiper blade, if equipped. Don't forget to check the windshield washer fluid.

□ Inspect and replace as necessary the engine air filter and the cabin air filter.

 □ Inspect steering components and steering linkage.

Complete Auto Repair Service can perform comprehensive vehicle inspections to help customers keep their vehicles operating properly.

 Call today for and Appointment.

Gas-Saving Tips for Your Auto - Repair in wellington Utah

C.A.R.S. = Gas saving Tips for your travels.

Gas-Saving Tips for Your Auto

Whatever your motivation, here are some gas saving tips

Keep your engine "tuned up." A well-maintained engine operates at peak efficiency, maximizing gas mileage. Follow the service schedules listed in the owner's manual. Replace filters and fluids as recommended; have engine performance problems (rough idling, poor acceleration, etc.) corrected at a repair facility.

Monitor tires. Under inflated tires or poorly aligned wheels waste fuel by forcing the engine to work harder. (Let the tires cool down before checking the air pressure.) Out-of-line wheels, as evidenced by uneven tread wear, should be aligned by a professional.  ( CARS can do Alignments )

Remove excess weight. Remove unnecessary items from the vehicle. Store only essentials in the trunk. Less weight means better mileage.

Consolidate trips and errands. Some trips may be unnecessary. Also, try to travel when traffic is light so you can avoid stop-and-go conditions.

Avoid excessive idling. Shut off the engine while waiting for friends and family.

Observe speed limits. Speeding decreases your miles per gallon.

Drive gently. Sudden accelerations guzzle gas. Anticipate traffic patterns ahead and adjust your speed gradually.

Use windows and air conditioning wisely. Your mileage should improve if you keep the windows closed at highway speeds, since air drag is reduced. This is true even with the air conditioning on-assuming that the system is in good working order. But turn the air conditioning off in stop-and-go traffic to save fuel.

These conservation tips should not only save gasoline, they'll help extend the life of your vehicle. Win-win, indeed.

Tires = Price & Helper Utah Auto Repair

#C.A.R.S

CARS TIRES

Tire pressure is a measure of the amount of air in a vehicle's tires, in pounds per square inch. The required service involves checking the tires' pressure with a pressure gauge, at least monthly, if not more frequently. But then you knew that.

Why do I have to do this?     Having the proper tire pressure is a crucial safety issue. Next to the brakes, the tires are the most important safety devices on your car. Incorrect tire pressure will compromise cornering, braking and stability. And in the worst-case scenario, improper tire pressure can lead to tire failure — and a serious accident. Incorrect tire pressure also will affect your comfort, fuel economy and tire life.

What happens if I don't do this?     If tire pressure is too high, then less of the tire touches the ground. As a consequence, your car will bounce around on the road. And when your tires are bouncing instead of firmly planted on the road, traction suffers and so do your stopping distances. You'll also feel a decrease in ride comfort. (Hint: If you notice that every tie you own has coffee on it, check your tire pressure. It may be too high.)

C.A.R.S. Tire Pressure:

Most vehicles list tire pressure requirements on one of the door posts, most often the driver's.

If tire pressure is too low, then too much of the tire's surface area touches the ground, which increases friction between the road and the tire. As a result, not only will your tires wear prematurely, but they also could overheat. Overheating can lead to tread separation — and a nasty accident. One sign of low tire pressure is if your tires squeal when cornering.

You need to check your tire pressure even if your tires aren't leaking. Why? Because tire pressure also changes with the temperature outside. Tire pressure decreases by about 1 pound per square inch for every 10-degree drop in outside air temperature. So if you last had your tire pressure checked in July, when it was 80 degrees outside, and it's now January — and the temperature is minus 20 — your tires may be underinflated by 10 pounds, which is dangerous.

Tire Rotation:     We know that all tires rotate. But we're talking about another kind of rotation — rotating tires to different corners of the car and maybe even reversing the direction in which they turn.
Many tires are rotated front-to-back and side-to-side, but some tires are directional, which means they're only supposed to turn in one direction. They have to stay on the same side of the car. Directional tires often have arrows on the tire's sidewall to show you the direction in which they should turn.

If you're not sure which kind of tires you have, check with your mechanic.

Should I do this service when it's recommended?
The financial benefit of rotating tires is that you'll increase the useful life of the tire. Instead, you can ask your mechanic to rotate your tires when they're already off your car for another service, such as a brake repair. th
ey may do it for Less.

TRANSMISSION SERVICE Repairing or replacing your transmission can be one of the most expensive repairs you may have to make on your vehicle. Maintaining your transmission according to your vehicle manufacturer's recommendations, not only prolongs its life but it can prevent a costly repair or breakdown in the future.

To help maintain a safe and constant operating temperature, your vehicle uses transmission fluid to cool and lubricate the moving parts. The fluid reduces the amount of potentially damaging heat inside the transmission and helps increase the life of this important system.

Because some of the ingredients in the transmission fluid break down over time due to this heat, many vehicle manufacturers recommend the fluid be replaced at specified maintenance intervals. Check your Manuel or check with us to find out when to replace your fluid.

We can Aligning your vehicle when you get new tires,  stop by and check us out.

Happy New Year from C.A.R.S. = Complete Auto Repair Service

Happy New Year

http://www.carsbellingham.com
We would like to wish you and yours a wonderful 2026 full of Peace, Health, and Happiness.  We hope you got to spend the end of 2025 with friends and family and enjoy them all year through in 2026.

“What we have once enjoyed, we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes part of us.” Helen Keller

We  are now headed into the New Year  of 2026, should you need any help with your vehicle Please get in touch.
 (435) 637 5337
This is a list of some things you should check and get fixed so you will be ready when you want to pack up and head for the snow!

Batteries are much weaker in cold weather, so keep your vehicle’s battery fully charged.

Brakes  should be checked and serviced if necessary. Even braking on all four wheels will lessen the chance of skids on slippery roads.

•Make sure your vehicle’s exhaust system has no leaks. Carbon monoxide is a silent killer and can accumulate quickly in closed vehicles.

•Make sure your wiper blades are in good condition. Keep the windshield washer reservoir filled with antifreeze solvent.

•Check the radiator, heater core and all hoses that carry anti-freeze solution to see that they are in good condition and free of leaks. Also check to see that the solution is good to at least 40 below zero.

•Make sure you have winter weight oil (usually 5W-30) in the engine.

Tires should have M+S or All Season tread and be in good condition.

Emergencies can happen when you least expect them, so be sure to carry a winter survival kit in your vehicle.
